Gainesville

Gainesville is one of the more recently developed areas in Northern Virginia. From its history as a changing point for stagecoach horses in the 1800s, to its prominence as a shipping point for grain, timber, and cattle through the 1960s, it wasn't until 1994 that Gainesville saw its first major development. The groundbreaking townhome community, called The Crossroads, catalyzed mass development in Gainesville. Now Gainesville is a vibrant suburban district home to major shopping, dining, and entertainment choices. Gainesville’s population as of 2020 is 15,928.

For the convenience of its residents, Gainesville features 6 large shopping centers: The Shops at Stonewall, Promenade Fountain, Virginia Gateway, Piedmont Center Plaza, Somerset Crossing, and The MarketPlace at Madison Crescent. The largest and most notable being Virginia Gateway which features 76 stores and services ( BJ’s Wholesale ClubCabela’sDSWHome GoodsLowe’sMuse PaintbarVirginia Tire & Auto, etc.), 37 dining options (BJ’s Restaurant & BrewhouseChipotleMission BBQOsakaUncle Julios, and more), 1 movie theater (Regal Cinemas), and 5 gyms (Club PilatesKwon’s Champion SchoolOnelifeOrangetheory, and Pure Barre). A unique attraction in Gainesville is The Battlefield Park Polo Club. The Battlefield Park Polo Club is a year-round riding facility that strives to bring polo to a broader audience. You can take horseback riding or polo lessons. There is no scarcity of things to do in Gainesville because it’s packed with stores, restaurants, and shopping centers.

For individuals 55 and over, Gainesville Boasts two 55+ communities, Heritage Hunt and Regency at Creekside. Heritage Hunt is a gated community that offers an Arthur Hills designed 18-hole championship golf course, two clubhouses, tennis courts, indoor and outdoor swimming pools, and multiple home styles. Regency at Creekside is a gated community offering indoor and outdoor pools, a pickleball court, tennis courts, walking/jogging trails, a clubhouse, a fitness center, a tavern, and 6 different floor plans.
